Eligibility Checker — Find Your Best Matches
+

Enter your academic profile and instantly see which universities you qualify for, with match scores and reason breakdowns on each card.

Showing 49 universities
Important: Visa rules change periodically. Always verify with your university's admissions office or the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) before applying.

Phase A — Admission

1
Step 1
Choose Your University & Programme
Use the University Finder above to shortlist institutions matching your academic profile. Check if the university is Direct or Third-Party — Direct partnerships often have smoother visa processing through the institution itself.
Shortlist 3–5 universities Confirm intake dates Check pathway country
2
Step 2
Meet English Proficiency Requirements
Most UK, Australian and USA-affiliated universities require IELTS 5.5–6.5 or equivalent. Some universities marked "MOI" accept a Medium of Instruction certificate from your previous school. "Waived Off" means no English test is needed. "Condition Apply" means you may need a pre-sessional course.
IELTS / TOEFL score report MOI certificate (if applicable) Pre-sessional enrolment (if needed)
3
Step 3
Submit Application & Pay Deposit
Complete the university's online application form. Attach academic transcripts, passport copy, passport photos, personal statement and references. Pay the application/registration deposit (typically AED 500–2,000).
Passport (valid ≥6 months) 10th & 12th marksheets Degree certificate (if applicable) Personal statement 2 reference letters Passport photos (4 pcs)
4
Step 4
Receive Conditional / Unconditional Offer Letter
Once accepted you receive an official offer letter from the university. This is the most critical document for your visa application. Accept the offer and pay the first semester tuition to receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Offer letter (university letterhead) Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) Tuition fee receipt

Phase B — Student Visa Application

Note: UAE does not issue a traditional "student visa" separately. Students receive a UAE Residence Visa sponsored by their university/free zone authority. The process below is for a Dubai institution.
5
Step 5
University Initiates Your Visa Application
Your university (as your sponsor) submits an entry permit application to GDRFA or DNRD on your behalf. You'll receive a visa entry permit valid for 60 days within which you must enter the UAE.
University sponsors the visa Entry permit emailed to you Processing: 5–15 working days
6
Step 6
Arrive in the UAE & Complete Medical & Emirates ID
After entering on your entry permit, you must complete the medical fitness test at an authorised centre (includes blood test and chest X-ray). Then enrol for Emirates ID biometrics at an FGMO typing centre.
Medical fitness test (AED ~350) Emirates ID application (AED ~370) Passport copies (multiple sets) Photos (6 pcs white background)
7
Step 7
Receive UAE Student Residence Visa
Your university submits the residency visa stamping paperwork. You'll receive a visa stamp on your passport — typically valid for 1 year (renewable each year) or for the duration of your course. The university remains your Resident Sponsor throughout your studies.
Visa validity: 1 year renewable Sponsor: University / Free Zone Must maintain enrolment to renew
8
Step 8
Annual Visa Renewal
Each academic year, your university renews your residence visa. You'll need to submit updated documents: current enrolment letter, medical fitness renewal, Emirates ID renewal. Keep your academic status active (pass exams, maintain required attendance) to avoid visa cancellation.
Enrolment letter for renewal Medical repeat (every 2 years) Emirates ID renewal fee ~AED 170

Phase C — Graduation & Beyond

9
Step 9
Graduation & Grace Period
After completing your degree, your student residence visa remains active for the grace period (typically 30–60 days after course end). Use this window to arrange your post-study work permit or switch sponsors.
10
Step 10
Switch to Work / Post-Study Visa
Apply for the UAE Job Seeker Visa or have an employer sponsor your work residency visa. See the Work Permits section for full details on how to stay and work after graduation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, student visa holders may work part-time (up to 15–20 hours/week during term and full-time during holidays) through a part-time work permit. Your university or employer must apply on your behalf to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Typically available after the first semester.
From submitting documents to the university, typically 4–8 weeks in total: 1–2 weeks for entry permit, 1 week for medical, 1–2 weeks for Emirates ID and visa stamping. Start early — apply at least 8 weeks before your programme start date.
Your university will cancel your sponsored residence visa. You'll typically receive a 30-day notice to either enrol in another programme, switch to a different visa type, or leave the UAE. Act quickly to avoid overstay fines (AED 25–50/day).
Yes. Dubai law requires all residents (including students) to have valid health insurance. Many universities include basic health insurance in their fees. If not, you must purchase a DHA-approved plan (AED 700–1,500/year for basic coverage).
Yes. Your residence visa allows multiple-entry travel. If you are away for more than 6 consecutive months without a re-entry permit, your residence visa may be cancelled automatically. Notify your university if planning long absences.
2 yr
UAE Job Seeker Visa

Graduates from any recognised university worldwide can apply for the UAE Virtual Working Remote Visa or Job Seeker Visa — staying legally for up to 2 years to find employment.

5 yr
Green Visa (Self-Sponsorship)

Skilled workers, freelancers, and exceptional graduates can sponsor themselves through the UAE Green Visa — 5 years, renewable, without needing an employer sponsor.

🔍 Job Seeker Visa (Graduate Entry)

  • Available to graduates from UAE universities or ranked international universities
  • Valid for up to 180 days (single or multiple-entry)
  • No employment needed to obtain — you come to Dubai to search for a job
  • Apply via ICP (Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship) or GDRFA website
  • Fee: approximately AED 2,500–3,000 total including service charges
  • Once you receive a job offer, employer converts this to a full work residence visa
  • Required: degree certificate attested by UAE embassy + MOFA attestation + university transcript

💼 Employment Residence Visa (Employer-Sponsored)

  • Employer applies for a work permit from MOHRE before issuing your visa
  • Employer pays visa costs (legally required); you get a 2-year residence visa
  • Process: Work permit → Entry permit → Medical → Emirates ID → Visa stamp
  • You can transfer between employers after completing one year (or with employer NOC)
  • Grace period: 30 days after employment end to find new sponsor or change status
  • Salary must be paid via WPS (Wage Protection System) to maintain legal status
  • Minimum salary for visa categories varies by profession — engineers, doctors, IT professionals typically qualify at AED 3,000+

🌿 UAE Green Visa (Self-Sponsored — 5 Years)

  • Launched in 2022 — allows skilled professionals, freelancers & investors to self-sponsor
  • Skilled Employee category: Hold a job with a minimum monthly salary of AED 15,000 + graduate degree
  • Freelancer / Self-Employed category: Obtain a freelance permit from a free zone + financial solvency proof (AED 360,000/year income or savings)
  • Outstanding Graduate category: Graduated from UAE top-100 university with GPA ≥ 3.5/4.0 OR graduated within last 2 years from a globally top-500 university
  • Benefit: Sponsor your own family (spouse + children) independently
  • Renewable every 5 years — no employer cancellation risk

🖥 Freelance Permit (Project-Based Work)

  • Available through free zones: TECOM (Dubai Media/Internet City), IFZA, RAKEZ, Fujairah Creative City, etc.
  • Cost: AED 7,500–15,000/year depending on free zone
  • Allows you to invoice UAE and international clients legally
  • Comes with its own residence visa — no employer needed
  • Popular for tech, design, media, education, consulting and healthcare professionals
  • Can be combined with Green Visa for stronger status

🏆 Golden Visa (10 Years — Elite Track)

  • Reserved for exceptional talents: researchers, doctors, scientists, engineers, artists, athletes, executives and investors
  • Graduates: Eligible if graduated from a UAE university with GPA ≥ 3.75 within the last 5 years
  • Also available for PhD holders, postdocs and researchers in critical fields (AI, medicine, clean energy)
  • No employer sponsor needed — 10-year renewable self-sponsored visa
  • Sponsor unlimited family members and domestic helpers
  • No exit requirement — can stay outside UAE for extended periods
  • Application via ICP, GDRFA or specific free zone authorities

Attestation — Critical for Work Permit

Degree Attestation is Mandatory. Before any employment visa can be processed, your degree certificate must be attested: (1) Notary Public in home country → (2) Home country Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) → (3) UAE Embassy in home country → (4) UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Dubai. Budget AED 1,500–3,000 and 4–8 weeks for full attestation.
Key rule: As a student on a university-sponsored residence visa, you cannot sponsor dependents yourself — your visa type restricts this. Once you transition to a work/employment visa or Green Visa, sponsoring dependents becomes straightforward.
After Graduation — Sponsor Your Family
Once on an employment or self-sponsored visa

Spouse (Husband / Wife)

  • Sponsor must earn at least AED 3,000–4,000/month (AED 4,000 for wives to sponsor husbands)
  • Required documents: marriage certificate (attested), spouse's passport, sponsor's Emirates ID, tenancy contract
  • Marriage certificate must be attested: registrar → MEA → UAE embassy → MOFA → local court translation
  • Visa validity: same as sponsor's visa duration (1–5 years)
  • Spouse can work on their own employment visa independently
  • Spouse can apply for their own freelance permit separately
  • Cost: AED 3,000–5,000 total including typing, medical, Emirates ID

Children (Under 18)

  • No minimum salary requirement for children under 18
  • Required: birth certificate (attested + MOFA), child's passport, vaccination record
  • Children can attend UAE schools on your dependent visa
  • Sons can be sponsored up to age 25 if enrolled in university
  • Daughters can be sponsored regardless of age (until married)
  • Child must renew visa annually if under 18 (biometric update required)
  • Cost per child: AED 2,500–4,000

Parents (Sponsored Dependents)

  • Minimum sponsor salary: AED 20,000/month for father OR AED 10,000/month for mother
  • Alternatively: special long-stay visa or retirement visa for parents 55+
  • Required: parent's passport, birth certificate showing relationship, sponsor's salary certificate, accommodation proof
  • Parent visa is valid for 1 year renewable
  • Parents cannot work on a dependent visa
  • Health insurance mandatory for parents — typically AED 3,000–8,000/year depending on age

Spouse Working Independently

  • Spouse on a dependent visa can be transferred to their own work visa by their employer
  • Or spouse can obtain a freelance permit independently from a free zone
  • Spouse can apply for Green Visa independently based on their own qualifications
  • No conflict between dependent status and having own employment — just update GDRFA
  • If spouse gets their own visa, they can then independently sponsor children
During Studies — Spouse Options

Tourist Visa (Temporary)

  • Indian nationals receive a 30-day visa on arrival (extendable online)
  • Can apply for 60-day or 90-day tourist visa multiple times
  • Spouse can accompany you on tourist visa during term time
  • Cannot work on tourist visa
  • Cost: AED 500–1,200 per visit depending on type
  • Border run (exit + re-enter) resets tourist visa — use Oman or Bahrain

Independent Work Visa (Spouse's Own)

  • If spouse finds employment in UAE, their employer sponsors their visa independently
  • No link to your student status
  • This is the most common solution for couples where both wish to stay
  • Spouse can then sponsor children on their own visa
  • Freelance permit from IFZA or TECOM is viable if spouse is self-employed
  • Green Visa for skilled spouses — recommended route for long-term stability

🇦🇪 UAE Permanent Residency (PR)

  • Announced as part of UAE Centennial 2071 vision — still being rolled out in phases
  • Eligibility Group 1 — Long-term residents: Continuous UAE residence of 10+ years, clean criminal record, financial solvency, no public assistance
  • Eligibility Group 2 — Exceptional contributions: Major investors, Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, Olympic medalists, etc.

  • PR holders do NOT need an employer sponsor or property ownership to maintain status
  • PR allows purchase of property in non-freehold areas (subject to current regulations)
  • Children of PR holders can stay indefinitely regardless of age
  • Application via ICP or GDRFA with supporting documents
  • PR does NOT grant citizenship automatically — separate naturalisation process exists (highly selective)

🌴 Retirement Visa (5 Years — Age 55+)

  • Own UAE property worth AED 2 million+
  • Have AED 1 million in savings OR AED 20,000/month pension income

Money-Saving Tips for Students

💡 Reduce Costs

  • Live in Sharjah and commute — rents 40–50% cheaper than Dubai proper
  • Cook at home using LuLu or Carrefour — meal prep saves AED 800+/month
  • Use the Dubai Metro and RTA buses — avoid Uber/Careem for daily travel
  • Get a Noon/Namshi student discount; use Talabat vouchers
  • Study in the university library — saves on electricity/internet costs
  • Join flat-share groups (Dubizzle, Facebook groups) before arriving

💰 Earning While Studying

  • Part-time work allowed (15–20 hrs/week in term) after first semester
  • On-campus jobs: library assistant, lab aide, peer tutor — ask admissions office
  • Internships: mandatory in many programmes and often paid (AED 1,500–3,000/month)
  • Freelance tutoring: AED 50–150/hour for academic subjects
  • Ramadan is a peak hiring season for retail and F&B — temporary work
  • Average part-time income: AED 2,000–4,000/month — can cover living costs
Currency note: 1 AED ≈ ₹23.3 INR (as of 2024). The UAE Dirham is pegged to the USD (1 USD = 3.675 AED) making exchange rate forecasting straightforward. No income tax in UAE — your take-home pay is your gross pay.
